Working Class Hero

October 11, 2007 · 1 Comment

As soon as you’re born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you’re clever and they despise a fool
Till you’re so fucking crazy you can’t follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When they’ve tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can’t really function you’re so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you’re so clever and classless and free
But you’re still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

There’s room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like all the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

A Brisa do Coração

March 16, 2007 · Leave a Comment

“A Brisa do coração”, composed by Ennio Morricone and performed by Dulce Pontes, is the soundtrack of one of my favourite film: “Sostiene Pereira”, translatable in English as “Pereira Declares”. The film is inspired on the homonym romance by Antonio Tabucchi and stars Marcello Mastroianni as the main character. Made in 1995 and set in Portugal in the early 1949, it is about the “inner conversion” of a man who slowly changes his way of life by opening his eyes to the reality and the brutality of his age. In doing this he will be helped by a boy and girl, fortunatly met, who will make him see the reality of the Portugal of Salazar. The film comes to the end with an act of courage that marks the final conversion of Pereira La Dolorosa; I’m not going to say anything more; watch it !

No thought control

February 23, 2007 · Leave a Comment

We don’t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom

I did it. I did the written part. But after a pause of 24 hours I’m back again to study for the final part of the exam, the oral part; if everything does well, I’ll finally be a free man on March 3rd. Hope to write you more as soon as I get more free time.

See you,

Sereno.
